How can physical therapy help me?
A licensed physical therapist can evaluate your condition and identify the source of your discomfort or dysfunction.  Once evaluated, the therapist will develop a treatment program that will usually involve some form of manual therapy and exercise, as well as modalities if they are needed to treat the problem areas.  You will also receive instruction on a home exercise program as well as education on proper body mechanics and posture to prevent re-injury.

How can speech therapy help me?
Speech-language pathologists, who are often informally known as speech therapists, are specialists with training in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of speech, voice, language, and swallowing disorders.  Speech pathologists perform a complete evaluate of your condition and then devise a treatment program based on your individual needs.  Speech pathologists also treat conditions resulting from hearing loss, stroke, cerebral palsy, or brain injury.
Our speech therapist has over 20 years experience and is also fully trained and certified in neuromuscular electrical stimulation or NMES for swallowing.

What do I need to do to get started?
A prescription from a medical doctor is required in order to begin physical therapy or speech therapy treatment.  Contact us today and we can get you started.  We will need your name, insurance information and whether your injury is work related or not.  Once we confirm that we are contracted with your insurance company, we can schedule your appointment.

Does insurance cover physical therapy or speech therapy?
Medical insurance generally covers the physical and/or speech therapy evaluation and treatments.  However, each insurance plan is different.  You can check with your insurance carrier to determine your coverage.  Or, if you prefer, you can call us and our staff will be glad to assist you in determining your benefits.

What if I have no insurance?
No insurance, no problem. If you do not have insurance (or have a very high deductible and would rather not go through insurance) we do offer a 50% discount to our “private pay” patients. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide an estimate regarding the cost of your appointment because it will depend on your condition and which treatment techniques are required to treat your condition.

What will I do on my first visit?
Please come in 15 minutes before the start of your appointment to complete your patient paperwork.   Bring along your physician’s referral, your insurance card and wear comfortable clothes.  During your first visit, your therapist will complete an evaluation and may start your therapy treatment.

How Long Will the Therapy Treatments  Last?
Some therapy treatments will be as short as 30 minutes or as long as 60 minutes. It depends on your diagnosis.  45 to 60 minutes is the normal.  You might see a therapist once a week or a few times a week. Therapy treatments can take a few weeks or a few months to complete.

What Should I Wear to Physical Therapy?
For your initial physical therapy visit, it is important to wear (or bring) clothing that will allow us to evaluate your injury. For example, if you have a knee injury, please bring shorts. If you have a shoulder injury, please bring a tank top.
If your therapy consists of exercise, please wear or bring closed toe shoes and appropriate exercise clothing.
